Car Rental in Barcelona
When you plan your holiday in Barcelona, you know you are going to have fun. Barcelona is one of Europe’s liveliest, most effervescent cities – Catalonian food, delightful Spanish music, top class football, a colorful atmosphere and fascinating culture.
Barcelona is Spain’s second largest city and it sits on the shores of the Mediterranean, with weather very similar to that found in Israel.
To see and experience this city; to begin to sense its atmosphere, begin by wandering along the La Rambla Boulevard – Barcelona’s most famous street. It begins in the Gothic Quarter and continues on through a number of streets lined with restaurants, coffee shops, bars and lots of stalls. Don’t miss a close look at the Gothic Quarter, with its amazing buildings, shopping plazas and small, chic Irish bars, where you must stop and drink a small sangria before continuing to wander along the streets.
When you have wandered enough and you are feeling the first pangs of hunger, there is nowhere more authentic and pampering to eat than in the delightful La Boqueria food market. Sit in one of its many different small bars; eat the tastiest and most authentic tapas in town. One thing is sure, you won’t leave hungry.
Culture
Architecture buffs won’t be able to ignore the many buildings around the city designed by Gaudi – each one is a work of art.
Of course there is the Guell Park as well, which was also designed by the genius Gaudi. It is vast and filled with his art work – Fascinating buildings, special sculptures and even benches designed in his unique style.
Another location for culture enthusiasts – Barcelona’s Picasso Museum of modern art contains a range of that famous artist’s work in an amazing structure that fits the spirit of the city so well. Located slightly out of the city, the Dali Museum is also a major attraction.
Sport
Surely you didn’t think of taking a holiday in Barcelona without visiting the city’s pearl – The Camp Nou Football Museum at the FC Barcelona stadium, or as the locals call it, The Barça.
Beyond seeing how large and impressive the stadium is, the museum contains photographs depicting the club’s entire history, lots of cups won by the club over the years and of course, a Hall of Fame for its players over the years. You can also tour the entire stadium, including the stars’ dressing rooms.
To reach the stadium you have to travel and we recommend renting a car in Barcelona, which will allow you to get to know the city and the attractions in and around it, comfortably and at low cost. In Barcelona, Albar is represented by Dollar and Thrifty, both of which have many car rental branches all across Europe at competitive prices and with quality guaranteed.
Shopping
In general, Barcelona prices are not expensive and certainly that is true at Zara and Mango – They are both Spanish companies with prices much lower than in Israel. There is also the Heron Outlet, which is devoted to sales, surplus stores and bargains.
Tips for Drivers in Barcelona
In town, the speed limit is 50 kph. Out of town the speed limit is up to 100 kph and on specific highways, 120 kph.
Every vehicle travelling on Spanish roads must have two warning triangles and one spare bulb. Check that they are in the vehicle before you begin driving because you can be fined if they are missing.
Parking spaces marked in blue – You must display a parking ticket. A blue stripe at the edge of the road means that only residents can park there. Never park where there is a white line at the edge of the road, which means a fine and the vehicle will be towed away.
